MES: New trade fair to focus on ’Mobility Electronics‘

• Messe Berlin launches a trade fair for the electronics supply industry in the mobility sector
• Strong industry partners

Digitisation – this is the concept no one can afford to ignore in the mobility sector, be it by rail or by road. The electrical engineering industry goes hand in hand with this topic that is considered to be one of the key industries for the digital development of mobility. From 5 to 7 November 2019, the Mobility Electronics Suppliers Expo – in short: MES – will create its own B2B marketing platform for this market for the first time.

At its Berlin fairgrounds Messe Berlin GmbH will bring together specialists from the electronics supply industry in the automotive, commercial vehicle and rail transport mobility sectors. The trade fair is planned to be held every two years. It will be accompanied by short and concentrated dialogue forums. Specialist visitors will include vehicle manufacturers as well as representatives from politics, business, science and research.

“In the context of the omnipresent topic of digitisation, which is playing an increasingly important role in all areas of life, the topics of autonomous driving, electrification and connectivity in the mobility sector will dominate the next decades. The main protagonists of this development are the companies in the electronics supply industry. Offering a transport system-spanning trade fair therefore makes sense for this industry sector of mobility” says Matthias Steckmann, responsible Executive Manager at Messe Berlin.

MES is supported by the central association of the German electrical and electronics industry (ZVEI, Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V.), which covers the entire range of services offered by the electronics industry. It is a strong partner with over 200 mobility-related member companies. “We support the concept because, in contrast to other digitisation event formats, it focuses on an industry that will significantly shape the future of mobility and will continue to do so,” said Olaf Zinne, head of the Smart Mobility Platform at the ZVEI.

“A trade fair with such a high density of offers opens the possibility of very specialised exchanges. We will take the opportunity to contribute to this through the dialogue forums,” continues Zinne. Also involved is Wolfsburg AG, which is already very successfully organising the IZB – International Trade Fair for the Automotive Suppliers Industry – in Wolfsburg and in close cooperation with Messe Berlin. “The concept of MES is a meaningful addition to the offer of an exhibition in the odd-numbered years, especially as it provides a very specialised platform to the electronics suppliers of the mobility industry. This is the core industry for digital development in the sector. Our ‘fairs and congresses’ team supports the topic with the implementation of a dialogue forum,” reports Stephan Böddeker, Head of Mobility Economics at Wolfsburg AG.
